Rosendin Electric Starts Work Wiring the Caltrain San Bruno Grade Separation Project

Rosendin Electric Chosen for Past Performance on San Carlos Grade Separation Project and Outstanding Safety Record

SAN BRUNO, CA, November 17, 2010 /Building and Construction PR News/ -- Rosendin Electric (www.rosendin.com), the nation's largest private electrical contractor and a 100-percent employee-owned company, announced the start of work on the new San Bruno Grade Separation project. The $4 million electrical contract is part of a $77.7 million construction contract awarded to Granite Construction to improve safety by elevating the rail tracks at key intersections in San Bruno. Rosendin Electric has been subcontracted to install all the electrical work.

The first phase of the project includes supporting "shoofly" temporary tracks to re-route trains during construction, which will require building a temporary station platform during construction and modifying traffic signals in the area, and ultimately installing permanent signal lights. Over the next 12 months Rosendin Electric will be responsible for installing all the electricity for the project, including relocating utility boxes, wiring the new station platform, and installing area streetlights.

"Rosendin Electric has one of the best safety records in the industry, and this entire project is dedicated to improving public safety," said Patrick Valine, Project Manager for Rosendin Electric. "What's more, we have a proven track record with this type of project, having successfully completed a similar grade separation project for Caltrain in San Carlos a few years ago and the Palo Alto Station and California Street Station renovations in Palo Alto in 2009. We manage our projects with maximum safety and still keep the train and street traffic moving."

The San Bruno Grade Separation project will eventually elevate the train tracks above San Bruno, San Mateo, and Angus Avenues in San Bruno. A new elevated train station between San Bruno and San Mateo Avenues will replace the current train station, and the project includes three pedestrian underpasses, as well as a new parking lot with 191 parking spaces. The overall project is expected to be completed by 2012.
