With 30 years of professional experience, Mr. Hingston serves as a partner of Welbaum Guernsey. Each day, he utilizes his background in construction and surety law, insurance and commercial litigation, and alternative dispute resolution with regard to his involvement in construction-related matters including contract drafting and negotiation, payment disputes, mechanics liens, defective work claims, delay claims, and bond claims under payment and performance bonds.
Mr. Hingston received his JD from the University of Florida (1974) and his Bachelor of Arts from Ripon College (1971). He was admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida; the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida; 5th and 11th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals and the United States Claims Court. He has been involved in numerous highly complex matters in the state and federal courts, administrative bodies and arbitration, including matters subject to the Complex Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association. He has also served both sole arbitrator and as a member of a panel of arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association. He has lectured frequently on construction-related topics for various organizations, including The Florida Bar, Dade County Bar Association, American Arbitration Association, the National Business Institute and Lorman Educational Services. In addition to his legal work, he was a Councilmember of the Village of Pinecrest, Florida from 1996 through 2006, serving as Vice Mayor from 1996-98, 2001-02, and 2005-06. In addition, he has served as a member of the Village of Pinecrest Planning and Zoning Board from 2008-10.
