Cristian J.H. Ruhr Joins The Stanford Who's Who Community

Cristian J.H. Ruhr has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of his outstanding effort in the community.

KINGLAKE, VIC, AUSTRALIA, September 9, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Cristian J.H. Ruhr has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of his outstanding effort in the community. As Founder and Shed Coordinator of Kinglake Ranges Men's Shed Inc., as well as throughout his brilliant career, Mr. Ruhr has routinely displayed the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.

Since the 7 February 2009 Victorian Bushfires Disaster, Cris Ruhr has put personal adversity aside to make an outstanding and largely unacknowledged contribution to the local community by successfully initiating and realizing one of the most significant Bushfire Recovery Projects, known as the Kinglake Ranges Men's Shed.

Volunteering in the immensely challenging and chaotic Disaster Recovery environment, often for extensive hours and days on end, Cris demonstrated extraordinary courage and an exceptional selfless commitment through his involvement in the various local community groups and committees set up following the bushfires.

After successfully enlisting support from enthusiastic local residents and wider networks, Cris has generated a great range of major and inspirational initiatives within his community and via the "Shed."

Through his remarkable leadership efforts and positive focus, Cris has achieved his goal of enabling men to be better empowered and equipped to address myriad short and long-term health and wellbeing issues resulting from the Bushfires Disaster.

Kinglake Ranges Men's Shed Inc. is a men's health and wellness organization that provides a place for men to gather and work on community projects in a non-confrontational environment. The organization offers local men a place where they can meet, network, share skills and experiences and begin the process of the recovery and rebuilding of their communities in the aftermath of the 2009 bushfires.

Cris Ruhr is one of those individuals who need to be recognized for their selfless, tireless and largely unacknowledged leadership actions that have greatly assisted and enriched the lives of those around them in their community. Putting his own personal adversity and tragedy aside, through sheer determination and strength of character, Cris chose to step up and seize an incredible opportunity, which was to pioneer the very first Men's Shed in the Kinglake Ranges.

Mr. Ruhr has provided truly remarkable levels of inspiration and importantly, demonstrated a solid, sustained and enlightened leadership to many affected persons since 'Black Saturday.' Working primarily in a self-driven, and initially a volunteer capacity, often for extensive hours and days on end, (and more often with no break or respite opportunity), Cris has showed extraordinary courage and compassion, stepping up and working tirelessly under extreme circumstances to ensure the local men receive recognition and essential support.

Cris has assisted affected men to recognize their specific strengths and to rise above any 'stumbling blocks' standing in the way, by inspiring through effective communication and behavior, and making people feel valued for their contribution. He has also worked in a voluntary and paid capacity alongside fellow community members performing what is known as 'community on the ground assistance.'

A genuinely altruistic intent to help local bushfire-affected residents in the Kinglake Ranges is behind Cris' drive to make a significant and sustained improvement to the health and wellbeing and lives of those around him. He has fostered new approaches and ideas, set direction and facilitated new options for men in his community. Cris' noble and unheralded contribution has both inspired and enabled numerous impacted residents in his community.

Mr. Ruhr serves as a community and government liaison involved in major account negotiations, business development, and communication. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Men's Shed Association, and the Victoria Men's Shed Association.
